Hello,
I want to configure an FPGA (Altera Cyclone II) using JTAG programming
method via USB. I have done a design using a PIC18F2550 and succedded in
configuring Xilinx FPGA. I want to do the same thing fo Altera devices.

Altera was the first PLD vendor supporing IEEE 1532
That was new Loong time ago already, as of today, as of Altera web info:

In laboratory I have few boards with Altera Flex600. Boards are connected
with PC using ByteBlaster. On PC I have Win98 OS. On the all PC is the
same software.
Problem is that on some computers after configuring ALTERA device after

a jedec file read out from an ALtera EP320 and to
program into a PALCE16V8 .
note it is for repair purposes so I haven't the design

Altera maintains the GNU toolchain for Nios II. As for uClinux, I am
quite ignorant on the matter (I am not sure if any toolchain changes
were required). You might ask in the uClinux area of www.niosforum.com.

I suggest also considering transceiver speed, jitter and signal
integrity. Stratix II GX FPGAs provide a production qualified
transceiver speed of 6.375 Gbps which isn't addressed by V5 LXT.

You may want to consider the Altera Cyclone EP1C4 device. This device uses
a staggered pad ring to deliver more I/Os (and consequently fewer LEs) in a
given die size than the other Cyclone members. The device is available in
