Now I am trying to stretch the design to 133 MHz.
Can anyone compare the performance improvement of ISE 6.3 vs. ISE 6.2 (if any) ?

Hi all, I want to use a small cricuit (written in verilog and was
designed using ISE 3) in an other project using ISE 8.1. the problem is
that under ISE 3 the circuit worked perfectly, and under ISE 8.1 the is
an error. why this occur ?

Hi !
I installed ISE and EDK 6.2i with SP3, and ISE as a stange behavior.
When I go through steps synthesis, P&R and .bit generation every thing is
ok.
If I launch impact or if I swap to another windows application and back to
ISE, all green marks go back to ? and ISE launches the wholel flow...Ise foundation and Ise Webpack

Hi, does anyone know the difference between Ise Foundation and Ise
Webpack?. I have Ise Webpack installed in my PC and now I have some

How can we simulate the EDK IP cores in ISE? I created a new project in
ISE and copied the vhdl files that comes with EDK onto a new file and

bitstream even if I do a update bitstream in ISE. I had to import ISE to
EDK and do update bitstream so that it works on my FPGA board. Looks

I like to use a Xilinx written macro (edn) in my design using ISE 6.3.
I seems ISE does not accept edn file. I could not find any
documentation on using edn netlist for ISE. It follows the macro is
little old and older foundation had provision where edn elements could

and there's even no compatibility property in the save option.

ISE 8.1 release was planned for mid nov, now its mid december soon, I wonder
if it is known how much more the ISE 8.1 release is delaying? Xilinx is
advertising ISE webcast on Dec 14, I wonder if that will only cover soon to
be obsoleted 7.1 or be focused on 8.1?

I remember a few years ago we would have to run ISE PAR several times
in order to meet timing. One we had a decent layout, we would lock it
down because of the chance of never being able to reproduce it.
Does ISE still suffer nondeterministic placement?

Is it possible to install two diferent versions of EDK/ISE, that is,
one EDK/ISE 8.1 and another EDK/ISE 8.2. The reson is that I need the
first one for simulink, but my custom board uses the second one (for
the drivers). I suppose that the problem is the "Path Variable".

Hello,
Is there any facility in ISE to automatically indent source code? The
similar technique is available in C/C++ editors and I it is very simple to
add it to ISE for indenting smartly VHDL and Verilog source codes.

just a little thing: starting from 7.1 ISE abondoned the use of plain text
project files, the new project files with .ISE extension are PKZIP
compressed - that can cause an additional problem if ISE is not closed
correctly as the ZIP archive could corrupted rendering it totally useless,

I am using these programs in my digital class but do not know how to
link modelsim to ISE. In our school lab, after I make my schematic, I

is still no MP Support, and compile time are equivalent to 10.x.x ...
Anybody knows if Xilinx will ever add MP support ?
But the gui is a bit nicer ....

it looks like ISE 6.2 doesn't accept LVDCI_33 buffer for Virtex 2 Pro
devices. I have only 3,3V banks with an XC2VP7. What happens if I
instantiate LVDCI_25 buffer, which are accepted by ISE 6.2?

It was there in ISE 7.1 but now I've upgraded to ISE 8.1 SP2 and it's gone.
What's happened to it?
It's even more difficult to tell if a compilation has finished or found an
error.
Why can't there be an audible warning that a compilation has finished?

While porting hdl codes in xilinx, I synthesized using synplify with my
constraints.Then I place& routed in xilinx-ISE the edif file (output
of synplify). Now there are some timing errors coming in ise. Now I

We have just bought a new Virtex4 based devleopment board, but were having alot of trouble with the on-chip block RAM. This same design run successfully on a Virtex2 board. We were running ISE 6.3.
