I'm new to designing with altera, and by default the Quartus tool adds the following library declarations as part of my top level code template. library ieee; use ieee.std_logic_1164.all; library altera; use altera.altera_syn_attributes.all; I've compiled the altera libraries under modelsim using the supplied altera script. When I try to compile my top-level module in modelsim with ...

Hello, Is anyone else out there having issues with Altera's customer support? I've had an issue open with them for over two weeks now, and haven't even gotten a response on it. Not even a "We're working on it". Does anyone know how to elevate an issue within Altera? My Altera SE has been little help of late as well. Thanks for any suggestions. John

Does anyone know the status of the promised Altera MAX III CPLDs ? These were supposed to roll out early in 2007, but they are now not even registering on any Altera road-maps ? Has Altera pruned plans for this line ? - or has it gone back for 're-work' ? -jg

I'm trying to construct a SOPC component of JOP [1]. As it did not work in the FPGA on the first try (of course) I would like to simulate it with ModelSim (Altera version). However, when I start ModelSim from Quartus I get following error: # ** Error: (vcom-11) Could not find C:\altera\Modeltech_ae\win32aloem/../altera/vhdl/altera.altera_europa_support_lib. # ** Error: D:/usr/cpu/jop/qu...

Hi Altera used to make so much noise here, that I could not belive my eyes seing Stratix-II GX devices at Altera website, and no posting about Altera being the greatest at c.a.f. !!! I guess the S2-GX actualy isnt available so its a wise decision to not yell loud about it. I still wonder why the devices are listed on the web (without datasheets!) at all at this time. Sure its nice to ...

I came across a small surplus of Altera MAX 7000Es. On Altera's website I found information about how to program the Altera MAX 7000S. Is programming the MAX 7000E the same or does it require special equipment? Thanks, Derek Simmons

Today I searched google news for Altera and found the news saying that Altera signed contract with Digikey in Feb. 15th, 2005. Now hobbists don't need to ask where to buy Altera again on the list. Still expensive though. vax, 9000

Has anyone had success interfacing Altera DPA with Xilinx ISERDES/OSERDES/IDELAY? Is 1 Gb/s/pin feasible for Virtex-5 and Stratix-II? (did having both Altera and Xilinx on the same board cause some kind of exposion? :-) I'm considering using a Virtex-5 LXT for its nice x8 PCI-E block in an otherwise mostly Altera design. -- /* jhallen@world.std.com AB1GO */ /* ...

I'm trying to implement an SDRAM controller for the Altera EP2C8 on a TS-7300 board (from http://www.embeddedarm.com), and I found a document from Altera (http://www.pldworld.net/_altera/html/_excalibur/ nios-sdram-tuning/SDRAM_PLL_Tuning.pdf) which looks helpful in calculating how the PLL ought to be set up. The problem I'm facing is that the datasheet (http://www.altera.com/ literature/h...

Hello, I want to configure an FPGA (Altera Cyclone II) using JTAG programming method via USB. I have done a design using a PIC18F2550 and succedded in configuring Xilinx FPGA. I want to do the same thing fo Altera devices. Has anybody done that previously? The point where I am stuck is, I don't know the internal file formats of Altera files (e.g. rbf or sof files etc.) I need information ab...

I have been trying to get through to somebody at Altera to answer a question before ordering an Altera NIOS II/Stratix II development kit but they seem to give priority to existing customers vs. new customers. My Question Is: Some of the information I have downloaded from the Altera web site describes the kit as having EP2S30 and the technical documentation describes it as having an EP2S6...
