Hello everybody, do You know how to change the program of an existing PicoBlaze implementation on a Xilinx Spartan 3E development board? The board uses an USB cable to download the bitstream to the FPGA. I have an existing design including a PicoBlaze processor and would like to change its ROM code without recompiling the complete project. The JTAG loader software only seems to work ...

Hi, I was currently using picoblaze with RS-232 with the FPGA running at 50 MHz and it worked fine. I now need to run it at 62.5 MHz. From the information I hve gathered, to attain a baud rate of 115200, I would need a clock frequency of 115200 * 16 = 1843200 Hz or something close to that. In the picobalze hdl file, there is a counter that counts 27 cycle at 50 MHz to obtain 1851851 Hz ...

Hi folks, I am just trying my first steps with the picoblaze. And I feel alone with some questions. My situation [to avoid unnecessary tips :-)]: I don't use ISE gui or core generator, only a self-made flow consisting of a few nice shell scripts. What I am able to to is to use Block ram (RAMB16 on Spartan 3 and 3e) in a n*8 bit width configuration and initialize it via data2mem. Once...

Hi all ! I bought a S3board from digilent. I ran some program to test it, included a serial parallel multiplier :) I'm currently thinking of a new project "just for fun". When I learned vhdl at university, we start a project by coding a very simple processor, who looks like a very simple picoblaze. Do you think if it's do-able to implement a pico blaze, plug it (internally in the fpga) with...

I was hoping to download Francesco Poderico's Picoblaze C compiler today, but unfortunately his domain is expired. Google didn't turn up any other sites from which I can download it; does anyone know of such a location, or would anyone be willing to make it available online or send me a copy? (Provided that doing so doesn't violate any license terms.) Thanks! Eric

This is for the Xilinx guys on the newsgroup (sorry if you've heard this before): Could you make Picoblaze a standard part of ISE distribution? All it takes is to include the assembler and to make ISE recognize the .PSM files and at build time, assemble them to VHDL files and include it with the rest of the project. Maybe to also make Picoblaze into a Coregen block. Any thoughts? ...

for edu. purpose, I would like to modify s3astarter_ddr2 design to use it with picoblaze (store some data to ddr2 and read them back later). I have written an assembler for PicoBlaze (KCPSM3) in Perl. It's working for all of my test cases (including quite a complex program with over 600 instructions). It is a full syntax checker (somewhat more lenient than the distributed KCPSM3.EXE), as well as a generator of all the files (vhdl and verilog templates, .dec, .hex, .m, and .log files). The main features are: - platform indepe...
