Hi, I wonder if anyone has seen something like this. I have an FPGA design targeted at an Spartan xc3s1500 and using ISE8.2. We are using a spartan evaluation board with some 7 segment LED's. If I make minor changes to the pinout, sometimes the FPGA stops functioning completely. What is interesting, is that the 7 segment LED's are not driven. The VHDL code for this is : p_seven...

In January there was a discussion about the Spartan-3 LC kit from Memec. (http://www.memec.com/Memec/iplanet/link1/Spartan3LC_3.pdf) I'm wondering if anyone has purchased the kit and has any comments? In particular I?m interested in the USB 2.0 Interface. We are speculating that it uses a USB2.0 High Speed transceiver and hence requires a USB2.0 SIE core to be implemented in the Spartan. ...

Our third product based on Spartan-6 is Drigmorn4 http://www.enterpoint.co.uk/drigmorn/drigmorn4.html and it is now available in very limited quantities. It's very much of the same concept as Drigmorn3 but with the benefit of a bigger Spartan-6 FPGA - XC6SLX45 through to XC6SLX150. We also support bitstream encryption with FPGA's XC6SLX75-XC6SLXLX150. There is a better USB interface this t...

Hi, Well the subject says it all. Just wondering how does Spartan-3A DSP compares to Cyclone III in terms of power efficiency. I know the spartan is 90nm and hence should be less favourable. However, does it by any means at least approach the power performance of the cyclone? Thanks, -Manny

an unhappy owner of the fresh new Spartan-3A development kit from Xilinx: reason for unhappiness: 1) NO examples how to use DDR2 IP core with Spartan3A 2) NO EDK reference design for this board at all 3) NO EDK Board support package available Spartan 3A is only supported by EDK 9.1, but EDK 9.1 seems have bugs that force the need to run synthesis manually (automated build doesnt work...

I am trying to look for information on the "Spartan-3A FPGA Starter Kit Board User Guide" and other sites regarding to this problem I am having. One of the requirements of my program is to display a number, each second, on the Spartan-3A LCD. I see that some LEDs are flashing, while the LCD shows the numbers. I have not commanded that in the program. I understand that this must be happen...

Hello, I am a graduating college senior who is working on his seminar project. I am trying to get a CM11a controller (x10 technology) to talk to a Spartan 3 starter kit. I've written a programm in C# that allows me to cut on a light via that controller. My goal is to download this to the Spartan board, but instead of turning on a light, I would just to display a simple statement throug...

Hi, I'm working on a buffer-type application using a Spartan-III that requires six bytes of data to be read and written to memory at rates of about 100MHz. I was wondering two things: 1) Whether a Spartan-III is fast enough to send the required timing signals for a multiported memory at this speed. If not, I'll probably have to look into spending more money on a Virtex. 2) What companie...

Hi folks, I have been introduced to a project where I have to implement a TFT display controlller on a low-cost FPGA like Spartan-3 or Spartan-6. The controller has to support at least XGA - 1024x768, SXGA - 1280x1024, UXGA - 1600x1200 and WUXGA 1920x1200. I have to chose an appropriate platform now. I have read several posts here about the difficulties to get Spartan 3 parts in small quantities. Is it realistic to start a project using spartan 3 (actually the XC3S50 in the VQ100 package is what I probably want to use) when I only need small quantities - starting with getting some 10 samples, in full production lets say 100 to 500 pieces per year? Thanks for opinions, Thomas

So far I have narrowed down the hardware to cyclone II EP2C70 or Spartan-3A XC3SD3400A. Here is information I have collected: Cost: Cyclone II, board: DE2-70, $329 (education), EP2C70: 256$ or more minimum order of 1 (from Digi-key). Spartan...

Hello! I have an application with a Spartan-3 mainboard and 3 spartan-3-based daughterboards -- we had planned on connecting the daughterboards to the mainboard via SATA connectors, and running a 300 Mbps LVDS link in each direction (M-> D and D-> M). We had hoped that the daughterboards could do clock-recovery of the incoming (M-> D) 300 Mbps stream, and then (since effectively the whole system
