I am working on TCL scripts that go with EDK pcores that I am developing. The MPD file allows me to specify that I want TCL functions in the files I provide to be called at certain times. I would like to be able to determine the directory that the pcore/data/ *.tcl file that is being used is located in. There are a number of xget_* functions that allow a TCL script to query for information...

More and more I find myself needing to write Tcl. My simulator gets far easier to work with if I've got it scripted than going clicking around. Likewise, all of my configuration and control files under Quartus are Tcl based. I've poked around through web reference after web reference, and managed to cobble together an approximation of an understanding of Tcl, but I still find myself spending ...

Hello I've used tcl scripts for quite a long time now and been very happy until yesterday when suddenly the script interpreter started picking the wrong top level unit. So I have a perfectly compiling design in the GUI, I generate a tcl script and when I run it (xtclsh myscript.tcl) it stops with an error message, and when I look at the log I can see it has used "blkmem.xco" as top level unit. ...

Hi, all. Can anyone tell me what "Running UPDATE Tcl procedures for OPTION PLATGEN_SYSLEVEL_UPDATE_PROC..." means, and what platgen actually does to the .tcl files? I'm wondering if this could be the cause of an issue I'm having with BRAM instances. Before, I could run a Base System with 1 or more MicroBlazes with any available size Local Memory each, and no other extra peripherals or s...

Alright, I've got to fess up. I'm lost as to the point of .do files. They seem to suffer through all of Tcl's wacky syntax, but with the added benefit of not giving you access to the standard Tcl commands. Am I missing something here? Or is the entire point of the exercise that Tcl is considered to be intimidating, whereas a proprietary macro language is not? -- Rob Gaddi, Highland T...

I have a new Synopsys installation that I am trying to get to synthesize with Virtex2. I seem to have the default libraries in tcl syntax and a script that I need to work with in non-tcl, so my issue is a tcl versus Synopsys fpga_shell understanding.
