Work with a small team of signal processing/communications engineers to develop and implement various radio functions (filtering, gain control, frequency tracking, digital upconversion/downconversion, linearization, timing and phase recovery, equalization, FEC, symbol mapping/demapping, framing, etc )
Design circuits + PCBs for various spacecraft subsystems, test + validate hardware systems across the spacecraft, assist with low level software to interface with various spacecraft subsystems
Lead the design of kW-level power systems for our satellites, manage and control key components such as solar panel arrays, power regulation and distribution, and high-density batteries, integrate these systems into the spacecraft by working closely with the rest of the team
Design RTL for high data rate, software defined radios, work with state of the art Xilinx FPGAs and toolchains, interface FPGAs with high speed data converters, memories, MCUs, design, implement and test radiation mitigation schemes on FPGA Collaborate closely with DSP/radio algorithm designer
Design fault tolerant electrical systems for operating in a radiation environment, integrate these systems into the spacecraft by working closely with the rest of the team, support other electrical design, bringup, and test activities
Design and validate ultra high speed digital data systems, select PCB stackups and help with PDN designs for other systems, choose electrical harnesses for use in harsh environments, integrate these systems into the spacecraft by working closely with the rest of the team
Bringup and test complex electrical hardware systems, develop and extend existing test automation platforms, create verification plans by developing a thorough understanding of the system-under-test, analyze and root cause the various failures modes of the hardware
Work on the full suite of radio hardware, design and test ultra high speed digital data systems, work with state of the art FPGAs and data converters, design and lay out PCBs to implement these systems, test and validate full radio signal chain, integrate these systems into the spacecraft by working closely with the rest of the team
Design, simulate, implement, and measure passive/active RF sub-systems at microwave frequencies, including; LNAs, power amplifiers, up/down convertors, oscillators, etc, integrate these systems into the spacecraft by working closely with the rest of the team
Implement spacecraft avionics software, implement ground control and telemetry software, implement software for automated testing at component, functional and system levels, including HITL (Hardware in the Loop) testing, implement low level software to interface with various spacecraft components, implement/troubleshoot/improve real time operating system components
