I am a research scientist working in the field of Atmospheric Radars. I have worked on FPGAs for developing digital receiver sub-systems as well as worked on various microcontrollers that went into implementing the radar's control systems. I also have worked in the Ka-band frequencies for designing and constructing radar's microwave front end.

I find my self in a similar situation as the OP and cfelton. I go the route of writing the C code myself to get my FPGA logic tested out as it would take longer...

I have successfully used the DRP before to dynamically change the clock frequency, but haven't tried fine tuning the phase.
